The PNW Music Awards is registered as a Mutual Benefit organization, meaning we serve our “members” of the local music communities as opposed to the general public. Traditionally, this organization type is utilized by unions, chambers of commerce, and other similar groups. It is common for organizations under this structure to charge a membership fee to those they serve, but we don’t believe recognition and support should be locked behind a paywall of any kind, so we’re doing things a little differently.
PNW Music Awards Membership
Membership to the PNW Music Awards can be obtained in one of two ways, by joining our voting panel to help determine a given year’s nominees and winners, or by submitting your music for nomination consideration. Neither method of obtaining membership will ever require a fee, that’s our promise to you. Our funding does not come from mandatory fees paid unto us by the community we claim to be serving, but instead by corporate sponsors and generous independent benefactors, allowing our members to receive the acknowledgement and recognition they deserve for their hard work, without having to write a check for it. It’s important to us that our members never pay fees so as to ensure and protect the integrity and ethics we are so dedicated to. As a result, membership is lifelong, and can never be revoked or rescinded, unless specifically requested by the member themselves. In the event a member elects to rescind their membership, they may request and be granted reinstatement at any time. Our goal is to serve the local music communities of Oregon and Washington, that’s it.
Becoming a PNWMA member
Now that we’ve addressed the important bits, let’s go over the details of what PNWMA Membership actually means.
By obtaining membership to the PNW Music Awards, Member does acknowledge they have read and understand the following terms.
Membership to the PNW Music Awards has no associated membership cost, making it completely free. The PNW Music Awards will never require Members or Potential Members to provide any dues, fees, or financial support in order to obtain eligibility for involvement including, but not limited to, Nomination or Win consideration. Members who provide financial support to the PNW Music Awards by means of Sponsorship or Donation will experience no change in their Membership experience, as financial support by Members does not increase a Member’s likelihood for Nomination or Win consideration.
Membership to the PNW Music Awards may be offered to an individual, individuals, or a creative entity. Upon obtainment of Membership, there will be a space to include the Name for the Membership, this may be a individual person’s name, or the name of a creative entity (ie, band name, or stage name, etc.). Multiple Memberships may be held in tandem by an individual who is a member of multiple creative entities, or who is a member of a creative entity and would like to hold an individual Membership.
Membership to the PNW Music Awards is lifelong, meaning all Membership is inherently and automatically Lifetime Membership. The PNW Music Awards cannot revoke Memberships held by a creative entity shall be valid until the dissolution of said creative entity. Individuals may elect to rescind their Membership at any time, and may do so by contacting the PNW Music Awards team. Individuals who have previously rescinded their Membership may request and be granted reinstatement at any time.
Membership to the PNW Music Awards entitles the Member to participation in voting and/or Nomination or Win consideration, and all other benefits served unto the local music communities of Oregon and Washington by the PNW Music Awards Organization.
